Is like trying to mine for litecoins. Not happening, and someone bought this potential car.

Hmm, I see the older ones go for cheap on county and state auction sites. I've been looking on and off hoping one with an LS motor will go for cheap, not that I have a place to keep it while I part the rest out or scrap it or anything.
But..... cheap LS!

Any chance you live near a scrap yard?
I walk into those and they are littered with Pickups holding 5.3 liter, some may be the LT, but still a good engine if you build it right. As is any engine.

I don't think they ever put a LTx in a van. The astro vans were all V6's and the trucks got the 350 vortec.

Yeah but they all want top dollar and... I need trans and wiring and ECU, so I'd rather buy the total package.

Is there something wrong with the Vortec, not to sound dumb but I'm not terribly familiar with the V8's.

no, a lot of guys use the LSx based Vortec engines for motor swaps because you can find them everywhere for cheap. I am not sure how similar a 350 SBC vortec is to a LT1 or a LT4 but I know one of my friends has a 99 C1500 with a 350 vortec running a LT4 cam. I'm sure the difference is basically the heads/intake.

None of that around here. They'd rather make the $$$$ parting it out or scrapping it. The only deals to be had are private owners, auctions, etc.

That's sad..... I made a lot of money in scrap yards picking up cars and flpping them.
